WhatsApp has recently enabled end-to-end encryption to all its users. This end-to-end encryption will make sure that users’ messages, photos, videos sent on WhatsApp won’t be accessible to anyone else. Even WhatsApp won’t be able to read them. This will protect WhatsApp users’ privacy from cyber-criminals and law-enforcement agencies. Not only the messages, videos and photos sent to single chat will be encrypted but calls and group chats will also be encrypted.
How To Enable Encryption?
This end-to-end Encryption automatically gets enabled with the latest WhatsApp version. If you are not able to find end-to-end encryption on your WhatsApp chats, you need to update your WhatsApp application to the latest version. You can update your WhatsApp to the latest version on Google’s playstore for Android Devices and on App Store for iPhones or iPads and other respective stores for other devices.
How To Verify End-To-End Encryption?
Now, let’s see how to verify if the encryption is enabled or not for any particular contact or user.
Step 1 –
First open any chat. You will see a message telling about end-to-end encryption. The message reads-
Messages you send to this chat and calls are now secured with end-to-end encryption. Tap for more info.
Step 2 –
Tap on the message you see in the chat window. A new message will pop-up, where you can see 3 options:

If the codes on both the smartphones match, you will see a success message. You have to check the same person’s Smartphone whose chat you have opened in the Step 1, otherwise code will not match. Enjoy privacy and security from cyber-criminals with secured end-to-end encryption on WhatsApp! 🙂
