How to Install Nougat Custom ROM on Lenovo A6000/Plus

Lenovo A6000/Plus smartphone comes with KitKat 4.4.4 pre-installed which can be upgraded to Lollipop 5.0.2. But the Lollipop update is very buggy and eats more battery. So, you can try to install Android Nougat custom ROM on your Lenovo A6000/Plus phone to unlock its full potential.

To be specific, we will install AOSP Extended Android Nougat 7.1 Custom ROM on Lenovo A6000/A6000 Plus. This custom ROM is developed by the AOSP Extended project.

Install Android Nougat AOSP Extended Custom ROM On Lenovo A6000/Plus

Now, after you are ready with the prerequisites, it’s time to install Nougat custom ROM on your Lenovo A6000 or A6000 Plus phone. So, follow these steps.

Step 1: Copy Custom ROM on your SD card and Boot your Phone to Recovery Mode

First of all, download Android Nougat AOSP Extended Custom ROM and Open GAPPS zip files. After downloading, move them to the root of your SD card and turn off your Lenovo A6000/Plus.

Now, press and hold the Power + Volume (+ & – ) buttons together for 10 seconds to boot your Lenovo A6000/Plus into Recovery Mode.

You will boot into Recovery Mode. On the first boot of TWRP recovery, you may see the following screen just check the box and swipe to the right to go to the main menu.

Now, you are on the main menu of TWRP Recovery.


Step 2: Completely Wipe your Lenovo A6000/Plus Phone

Now, we will wipe the device before installing Android Nougat 7.1 AOSP Extended Custom ROM. So, tap on the WIPE button.

In the WIPE menu, tap on Advanced Wipe and select everything except your SD Card. Swipe to the right to wipe everything.

Now, you have successfully erased your phone’s internal memory. Tap on the Home button to return to the TWRP main menu. We will now flash Nougat AOSP Extended custom ROM in Lenovo A6000 or A6000 Plus.

Step 3: Install Nougat AOSP Extended Custom ROM on Lenovo A6000 or A6000 Plus

We have successfully formatted the internal memory of the Lenovo A6000 / Plus smartphone. So, we will now install the Nougat custom ROM on the Lenovo A6000 Plus phone. Tap on INSTALL on the TWRP home screen.

Browse to the External SD Card and select the AOSP Extended Nougat 7.1 Custom ROM zip file. After that, swipe right on TWRP to flash and install the selected Custom Nougat ROM on Lenovo A6000 Plus.

Android Nougat AOSP Extended Custom ROM will be flashed to Lenovo A6000 or A6000 Plus. After that, tap on the Wipe cache/dalvik button to wipe the cache. Make sure to swipe right to wipe the cache.

Step 4: Install GAPPS on your Lenovo A6000/Plus Phone

Now, we have successfully installed AOSP Extended Android Nougat 7.1 Custom ROM on the Lenovo A6000/A6000 plus phone. We need to flash GApps in order to get Google Play functionality in the Lenovo A6000 Plus phone.

So, go back to the home page of TWRP and tap on the Install button again. Next, browse and select Open GApps zip file and swipe right to flash it.

After successfully flashing of Google Apps package, Wipe cache/dalvik again. After wiping the cache, reboot your phone by tapping on the Reboot button.

Step 5: Configure and Use Android Nougat on Lenovo A6000/Plus

The first boot may take some time (maybe 10-15 mins). After booting up, you will see Android Nougat’s welcome page. So, select Language and tap on GET STARTED. After that, enter your Name and configure the rest of the settings.

In the next few steps, you will set up your Google account on your device. After you are done, you will see your Android Nougat home screen.

Hey thanks a lot, i don’t know why but my phone don’t want to go to recovery mode after pressing the three buttons that just put a screen with lenovo and android written and it stays like this until i start the phone again.. Perhaps because i don’t know which one of the: (TWRP 3.1.1 32-bit | TWRP 3.1.1 64-bit | TWRP 3.2.1 (For Oreo) | TWRP 3.2.2 (For Pie) ) i have to take..?

  2. I’ve tried it. It works smoothly and i like it. But i having a trouble that my lenovo a6000 can’t connect to PC. It’s not recognized (i’m using windows 10 by the way). Are there anyone having troubles like mine? Can’t you help me to fixed it?
