How to Sign in with Microsoft Account in Windows 10

Windows 10 allows you to sign in using Microsoft Account. You can easily switch to Microsoft Account to synchronize your settings across multiple Windows 10 devices. Just make sure that you are using the same Microsoft Account across all devices.

That being said, you would need a Microsoft Account first. In case you don’t have a Microsoft account, you can create one here. Once you are done, you can switch to Microsoft Account on Windows 10.

Switch to Microsoft Account on Windows 10

Let’s start the process. Make sure you have already signed up for a Microsoft account in advance. After you are ready with your Microsoft account, just follow these steps.

Step 1: Open Account Settings

Let’s start the process. First, go to the Start menu and click on Settings.

Step 2: Switch to Microsoft Account from Local Account

Here you will see details of your Local Account on the right side. Below your account info, you will see a link to allow you to “Sign in with a Microsoft account instead“. Click this link to switch from the local account to Microsoft account.

The link will open a new window where you can log in using your Microsoft account. Now, enter your Microsoft account username and click Next. You may see several sign-in options depending on the setup of your Microsoft account. Using any of the sign-in methods, log in to your Microsoft account.

Windows will prompt you to enter your local account’s password one last time. Enter your local user account’s password and click on the Next button.

Step 3: Create a PIN for your Account

Your Microsoft Account’s password may be long and tricky. It may cause inconvenience while signing in. So, Windows 10 will ask you to set up a PIN for your Microsoft account. The PIN will help you sign in quickly after you switch to a Microsoft account on Windows 10.

Now, create a PIN for your Windows 10. The PIN can be numbers or a combination of numbers, letters, and symbols. Type your PIN twice and click OK.

Step 4: Login with Microsoft Account

After successfully creating the PIN, you will see your Microsoft account in Accounts Settings. Your Microsoft account profile picture will be set as an account picture.

Next time you will restart your computer or sign out and sign in again, you will see your Microsoft account there. Enter your PIN to log in to Windows 10 using the Microsoft account.
