Windows installation is something that a person having a computer must know. If you don’t know how to install Windows, you will have to take your computer to Computer shop and pay for Windows installation every time you need Windows installation. Here is the solution for this problem. You can install Windows yourself using Windows Installation Disk. This tutorial shows “how to install Windows 7 on a fresh or New PC“.
What we need:
- Windows 7 Installation Disk or USB Drive. If you don’t have installation disk, you can create it. Click following links to know how to create bootable CD/DVD or USB drive.
- PC or Laptop on which you want to install Windows 7.
How to clean install Windows 7?
First your have to setup your PC to boot from CD/DVD or USB drive depending upon what kind of installation media you are using. You can check following tutorials for setting up your PC to boot from CD/DVD or USB drive –
After you have setup your PC to boot from CD/DVD or USB, insert installation media into your PC and reboot it. On startup you will see, “Press any key to boot from CD/DVD or USB…“, press any key to start installation.
After loading startup files, Windows 7 installation Setup will start. Select Language, Time and currency format and Keyboard input. Usually you need to change the Language only. Click on Next to proceed.
Now you will see a new window, click on Install Now to install Windows 7 on a fresh PC.
As soon as you click on Install Now, Windows 7 setup will start.
If you are using a multi-version installation disk, you can select which version of Windows 7 you want to install. Again Click Next to proceed.
Next, you will see license agreement. Check the box next to “I accept the license terms” and click Next.
You are almost ready to start Windows 7 installation process. Click on Custom (advanced) to install clean copy of Windows 7. Upgrade option can only be used when you are already running old version of Windows.
If you are installing Windows 7 on a New PC, you will have hard disk with un-allocated space. You have to create partitions first, in order to install new copy of Windows 7 on it. Click on Drive options (advanced).
You will now see Advanced drive options. First click on New and then select un-allocated disk space. Enter the size of new partition (in MB) and click Apply.
You will see a message about Windows creating additional partitions, Just click OK.
Now, you have successfully created a partition. Similarly, you can create more partition if you have more disk space. You will see a System Reserved partition, don’t touch that and select another partition you just created. Click Next to proceed installation.
Windows 7 installation will start. Expanding Windows files takes some time, so you can enjoy a cup of coffee.
After some time your PC will restart. Rest of the process will continue after Reboot.
On Rebooting, Setup will update registry settings and complete rest of the installation process.
After Installation Completing Installation… is over, system will show you a message and restart.
Your PC will reboot and you will see Windows 7 logo.
Setup will check your PC’s video performance.
Now configuration part starts, Enter a User Name for your PC.
Choose a password for your newly created User Account. Click Next to proceed.
Now you will be asked to enter Product key. You can Skip this step to do it later.
Choose settings for your PC. We recommend to choose “Use recommended settings” option.
Next, set timezone, date and time. Click Next to proceed.
If you are connected to a network, you can select which type of network you are on. If you don’t know, just click on Public Network. I you are not connected to any network, you won’t see this prompt.
Windows will prepare your desktop for you to start Windows 7 for first time.
After desktop is done, you will see your desktop. Here it is! Windows 7 installation is complete. You can now eject installation media and start installing your programs.
