If you have upgraded your Lenovo A6000 / A6000 Plus smartphone to Nougat using Custom ROM (AOSP Extended or others), then you can’t easily downgrade using KitKat ROM. Because Nougat Recovery doesn’t allow installation of KitKat ROMs. For downgrading your Lenovo A6000/Plus from Nougat to KitKat, you need to first downgrade Nougat Recovery to KitKat recovery. Then you can use KitKat recovery to install KitKat ROM on your Lenovo A6000/Plus smartphone. This tutorial shows, how to downgrade Lenovo A6000/A6000 Plus smartphone from Nougat to KitKat. This tutorial is divided into two parts:
- Downgrade Nougat Recovery to KitKat Recovery
- Downgrade Android Nougat to Android KitKat ROM.
Let’s do this one by one:
Downgrade Nougat Recovery to KitKat Recovery
First we are going to downgrade Nougat Recovery to KitKat Recovery. Because Nougat recovery doesn’t allow installation of KitKat ROMs. We have used TWRP Recovery in this tutorial. You can download TWRP KitKat recovery from the link shown below:
Now follow these steps to downgrade Nougat recovery to KitKat recovery:
Download KitKat recovery zip file from above given link and put it at the root of your SD card. Boot your phone to TWRP Recovery and tap on INSTALL.
Now switch storage from internal storage to SD card.
Tap on KitKat Recovery zip to downgrade TWRP recovery to KitKat recovery and swipe to right to start installation.
After installation go back to TWRP homepage and tap on REBOOT and the tap on RECOVERY.
Now you have successfully downgraded Nougat TWRP Recovery to KitKat TWRP Recovery.
Downgrade Android Nougat to Android KitKat ROM
After downgrading Nougat Recovery to KitKat Recovery, it’s time to downgrade Android from Nougat to KitKat. You can download KitKat Stock ROM for Lenovo A6000 and A6000 Plus from links given below-
After downloading Lenovo A6000/Plus KitKat Stock ROM zip file, copy it to root of your SD Card. Follow these steps to downgrade Lenovo A6000/A6000 Plus from Nougat to KitKat:
Rebooting to recovery may take some time. If it takes very long time to reboot to recovery, remove battery and put it back again. Press Volume (+), Volume (-) and Power button together for 10 seconds to go to recovery mode. After rebooting to KitKat Recovery, tap on INSTALL and change storage from Internal Storage to External SD Card.
Tap on KitKat stock ROM zip file and swipe right to start installation.
After KitKat ROM installation is complete, REBOOT to SYSTEM.
For first boot, your phone may take some time. Don’t panic and wait for first boot to complete. After successful boot, your phone will start with KitKat.
You have successfully downgraded your Lenovo A6000 / A6000 Plus smartphone from Nougat to KitKat. Now you can enjoy KitKat stock firmware which was pre-loaded with your smartphone. You can again upgrade to Lollipop or Nougat in case you change your mind. Enjoy, have fun!
