How to Reset User Password on Windows XP without Current Password

This guide shows you, how to reset any user’s password on your computer running Microsoft Windows XP, even if you don’t know current password. You can also reset your password in control panel but for that you will require your old password. Or you may want to change your Windows XP password after someone has changed it and luckily you found the system unlocked.

How to reset Windows XP’s Password?

Step 1

Press “Window Button + R” and type “cmd” and press Enter. This will open command prompt window.

In command prompt type “control userpasswords2” and press Enter. This will open User Accounts applet.

A new window will popup. Select the user whose password you want to change and press “Reset Password.”

New Popup will appear, where you can type your new password. See, there is no space to enter current password. It means you don’t need to know current password to reset selected user’s password. Type your new password twice and click on OK.
