How to Install Apps and Games in BlueStacks 5 & 4

Over the years BlueStacks has improved a lot. Specially in the terms of performance and accessibility. Installing the apps and games has become even easier. You can install apps and games from Play Store or even by using APK files in BlueStacks.

In BlueStacks 4 and BlueStacks 5, it is quite easy to install apps and games. You can launch Play Store just like on your phone and choose your favorite app. We have explained the process for both BlueStacks 4 and 5.

A) Install Apps and Games from Play Store in BlueStacks 5 and BlueStacks 4

Just like your Android phone, you can also install apps and games in BlueStacks 4 and 5 from Play Store. Just launch BlueStacks and follow these steps:

Step 1: Launch Play Store

BlueStacks 5:

In BlueStacks 5, click on Play Store icon from home screen to launch Play store app.

BlueStacks 4:

If you are using BlueStacks 4, you will have to launch Play Store from the app bar at the bottom.

Step 2: Sign in to Play Store using Google Account

If it is the first time you have launched Play store app, you will have to sign in using your Google account. Just click Sign in button and enter your username and password.

This process is same for both BlueStacks 4 and 5. Just follow on-screen instructions.

Step 3: Search and Install your Favorite App in BlueStacks 5 & 4

After successful sign in, search for your favorite app or game in Play Store. After that select an app or game from the search results.

Now, click on INSTALL button to install selected app. After the app has been installed, you can click on OPEN button to launch the app in BlueStacks.

B) Install Apps and Games from APK Files in BlueStacks 5 & 4

Besides Play Store, you can also install apps and games in BlueStacks 5 & 4 using APK files. Though the process is similar but there is interface difference between BlueStacks 4 and 5. Check the steps below.

Step 1: Click Install APK

In BlueStacks 5, click on Install APK button from the sidebar.

BlueStacks 4:

If you are using BlueStacks 4, then click on the three vertical dots right next to Installed Apps in top-left corner. From there, select Install APK.

Step 2: Browse and Select APK File

After you click on Install APK, a new browse window will open. In the browse window, you can navigate to your desired APK file. Select the APK file and click Open.

Step 3: Access Installed App from Home Screen

Selected APK will be installed in BlueStacks. After successful installation, the app icon will be available on home screen. You can launch the app from there.
