How to Install MIUI 10 Beta on Xiaomi Devices

Xiaomi has recently launched MIUI 10 for some of its devices. Users have been waiting for MIUI 10 update for a long time. And this most awaited update brings several new features and modifications. However this is only a beta update, while the stable release is still to be released couple of months later, the users can download Chinese Beta ROMs. So, if you’re willing to try latest version of MIUI before stable version release, follow this tutorial to check how to install MIUI 10 Chinese Beta on your Xiaomi device.

MIUI 10 Beta is currently available only for the Mi 5, Mi 6, Mi Mix 2, and the Redmi Note 5 Pro devices. Keep an eye on this article for updates when more devices are added to the list. How To Install MIUI 10 Beta on Mi and Redmi Smartphones?

Step 1

You would need to download the TWRP custom recovery for your device. You can download respective version of TWRP depending upon your device from the links given below. Download the TWRP custom recovery “.img” file and save it on your PC.

Now, download the MIUI 10 Beta ROM ZIP file to your device from the links given below:

Step 2

Now switch off your phone and then press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down key simultaneously to boot your phone in Fastboot mode. In fastboot mode, we will flash TWRP custom recovery to your Xiaomi device.

Step 3

To flash the TWRP Recovery on your device, connect your device to your PC in fastboot mode. Now, open a Command Prompt or Powershell window on your PC and run the following command:

fastboot flash recovery full_path_of_TWRP_recovery.img

For example, if you downloaded TWRP image file to C: drive directly, the command will be modified to following:

fastboot flash recovery C:/twrp.img

After flashing TWRP, run the following command to boot into the TWRP Recovery:

fastboot boot full_path_of_TWRP_recovery.img

If you downloaded the TWRP image file to C: drive only, the command will change to:

fastboot boot C:/twrp.img

Step 4

After you’re into TWRP recovery, go to Wipe -> Format Data, and then type “yes” to proceed.

After formatting your data, reboot your device to TWRP Recovery again. Go to Reboot -> Recovery.

After the reboot, your device will again boot into TWRP recovery. This time you go to Wipe -> Advanced Wipe, and select Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache, and System partitions. Then swipe to format these partitions.

Step 5

Now connect your mobile to your PC and transfer the MIUI 10 ROM zip file to your device. Then, from TWRP recovery, tap on Install and navigate to the MIUI 10 ROM file that you just copied to your device and tap on it.

Swipe the bar below to install the ROM. Once the ROM is installed successfully, tap on “Wipe Cache/Dalvik”. After that, just reboot your device to System.

Step 6

And you are done here. MIUI 10 is now installed on your Xiaomi device. You can now enjoy latest MIUI 10 ROM on your Xiaomi device even before official release.
